It is necessary to take into account that wood is a living element and that is very delicate. So brisk changes in temperature and or humidity can affect wood considerable. We can affirm that these are the guitar's two great enemies and whatever stringed instrument.

Despite the fact that polish isolates the instrument against these variations we have to take into account that is does not totally preserve the instrument.

One of the most delicate points of the guitar is the fingerboard, it is not polished and so the wood is much more sensitive than the rest of the instrument. If sufficient care is not taken with this aspect of the guitar it can cause the neck to move and consequently the pulsation of the strings.

The main recommendations we give in order to maintain our guitars in perfect conditions are:

The instrument must be maintained in a place where temperature and humidity levels were not too much high or low. At the same time it is important both parameters were as constant as possible.
Also, the guitar must not be exposed to sunlight and it must not be left near a window or radiator.
Once the practice is finished the instrument always has to be kept on a rigid case or on a guilted one if there is not that.
If you go on a trip, specially by plane, or you are not going to play the instrument durin a long time, it is advisable to relax the strings’ tension.
The instrument must be cleaned with a smooth baize preferably, and it always must be done on dry or use a special product for this purpose.
You must be careful with the shirt’s buttons when you are playing the instrument because it can grate it. This does not affect directly to the sonority, although it makes ugly our guitar aspects.

If you follow these easy advices and you treat your guitar carefully you can be completely sure that the instrument will last forever.
